About The Position

The position involves performing various functions, duties, or tasks while adhering to safe work practices and company policies related to job safety. Employees are expected to carry out their responsibilities in an honest, ethical, and professional manner. Key responsibilities include reading production instructions, observing material processing, documenting production issues, and coordinating with management for production scheduling. The role also requires maintaining records of production data and reporting on production and employee hours.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of all types of materials and thoroughly familiar with their characteristics with regard to forging.
  • Ability to interpret shop travelers, drawings, and procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before managers or other Company employees.
  • Ability to work assigned schedule with minimal absences.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

  • Read production, heating, or rolling instructions to determine processing specifications.
  • Observe processing of material; read gauges, clocks, and automatic recorder; and record and compare information with schedules to ensure compliance with processing specifications.
  • Inform supervisor of deviations from processing instructions and document problems, procedures, and production.
  • Write reports describing processing delays and deviations.
  • Review production deviation reports, corrective actions, and root causes of deviations to ensure feedback into the ERP system.
  • Track and record DPR data, downtime, operation time, and non-conformance.
  • Post transactions into Syteline.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally for maintenance and repair of machine units and tooling.
  • Coordinate with management to load dies for the next day's production.
  • Maintain current backlog of workload and escalate deviations from production schedule with proposed corrective actions.
  • Report on production and employee hours.
  • Prepare daily and weekly production schedule to ensure company targets are achieved.
  • Complete DPR (Daily Production Report) and furnace light up sheets.
  • Identify tooling or material shortages and follow up with management.
  • Fill in for reporting on TOC Line-walks.
  • Write MRR's for non-conforming product.
