About The Position

GPV Foods, a division of Schuman Cheese, is now hiring a 2nd shift Production & Sanitation Supervisor. GPV Foods is a producer of plant-based cheeses and we've created incredible quality in a line of dairy free cheeses. Our Montfort facility is a small plant doing big things! We are seeking someone to join our leadership team that embraces the flexibility, variety and multiple hats that a small plant requires. This position is responsible for leading people and processes on the assigned shift to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient production and sanitation operations. This role provides visible leadership on the production floor, drives accountability to standards, and ensures sanitation and food safety programs are executed consistently to protect product integrity, employees, and the business. Shift hours: 12:45PM-11:15PM

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 2–5 years of leadership experience in food manufacturing; dairy experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading production teams and sanitation programs.
  • Strong working knowledge of GMPs, SSOPs, SOPs, and food safety systems.
  • Proven ability to lead through others, drive accountability, and manage performance.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and conflict-management skills.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with strong follow-up and execution discipline.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop production and sanitation employees on the assigned shift.
  • Establish clear expectations, provide daily direction, and hold team members accountable to safety, quality, sanitation, and performance standards.
  • Manage employee scheduling, attendance, performance feedback, corrective action, and annual performance evaluations.
  • Foster a culture of engagement, ownership, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Onboard and train new employees, ensuring competency in job duties, sanitation practices, and food safety requirements.
  • Maintain strong floor presence; actively observe work practices and intervene as needed to reinforce standards.
  • Oversee daily production activities to ensure schedules, yields, and efficiency targets are achieved.
  • Actively identify process inefficiencies, downtime drivers, and quality risks; implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure accurate completion and review of production records and shift documentation.
  • Complete thorough end-of-shift pass-downs covering performance, downtime, sanitation status, issues, and corrective actions.
  • Support trials, continuous improvement initiatives, and capital projects impacting production or sanitation.
  • Own sanitation execution on the assigned shift, including production changeovers, end-of-day sanitation, and facility cleanliness.
  • Ensure all GMPs, SOPs, SSOPs, and food safety programs are consistently followed and enforced.
  • Oversee sanitation systems and programs, including: Master Sanitation Schedule execution CIP systems monitoring and verification Chemical usage, storage, inventory, cost control, and safety training Color-coded tool and equipment programs Gasket inspection, repair, and replacement programs
  • Maintain sanitation documentation and verify records for accuracy and completeness.
  • Partner closely with Quality to ensure CCPs, food safety controls, labeling accuracy, and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Proactively address sanitation or food safety risks and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Ensure employees work in a safe manner and that safety rules and procedures are always followed.
  • Lead by example in promoting a strong safety culture and timely incident reporting.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance to address equipment reliability, sanitation effectiveness, and preventive maintenance needs.
  • Communicate operational, sanitation, and food safety issues clearly to leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Support audit readiness (SQF, customer, regulatory) through disciplined execution and documentation.
