About The Position

The Production Research Technician plays a hands-on role in supporting field and laboratory research that helps drive innovation and continuous improvement in our production operations. Working closely with the Production Research team, you’ll help execute research trials from start to finish—assisting with plot preparation, planting, crop monitoring, harvest, and data collection. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in agricultural research while contributing to projects that improve production practices and operational efficiency. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, enjoy working both outdoors and in the lab, and are excited to be part of a collaborative team focused on advancing agriculture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy or a closely related field; alternatively, 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the assigned territory.
  • Working knowledge of production agriculture and field research practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a seasonal, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with agricultural equipment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and environmental conditions.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions in the field.
  • Willingness to work extended hours during peak seasons as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation, planting, and harvesting of research trials, including monitoring crop growth and recording necessary observations.
  • Conduct field experiments according to established protocols, ensuring accurate data collection and documentation.
  • Support post-trial analysis, including sample preparation, sample analysis, and data entry.
  • Maintain and calibrate research equipment, tools, and supplies to support consistent and reliable operations.
  • Assist with planning field trials and laboratory experiments, including sourcing materials, establishing process flow, and coordinating logistics with other team members.
  • Effectively communicate research findings, progress updates, and any concerns to supervisors and team members.
  • Collaborate with team members to implement process improvements and contribute to ongoing research projects that will enhance efficiency, reliability, and quality.
  • Uphold and promote best practices for safety, quality, and operational efficiency in both field and lab environments.
