About The Position

Air Squared Manufacturing, Inc. is an OEM manufacturer of scroll type compressors, vacuum pumps and expanders for the medical, aerospace, fuel cell and power generation industries. Air Squared offers exciting career opportunities working on projects including NASA MOXIE, Leading Electric and Autonomous Vehicle OEM, DOE Clean Energy initiatives ranging from nuclear fusion and the Advanced Research Projects Agency - Energy (ARPA-e), and other cutting-edge projects. The Production Quality Engineer will ensure that Air Squared’s products meet quality standards by developing quality control systems and driving continual improvement within the production department. They will report to the Production Quality Leader and support the QA team by creating and enforcing quality standards, procedures, and policies. They will also require a great deal of collaboration with other departments (e.g. supplier quality, product engineering, manufacturing engineering) to realize the desired improvements and quality standards. The Production Quality Engineer will join a team of production quality technicians that support production process monitoring, inspections, defect analysis, containment activities, root cause analysis, and other duties as required. They will also lead RMA evaluations and root cause investigations within the production department. This role is highly influential and collaborative, demanding strong collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a business, quality, or engineering related field – required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in critical thinking and problem solving - required
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis Tools (8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa, etc.) – required
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as PiWeb, Minitab, Excel, MS Access, etc. - required
  • 3 Years of Quality Engineering Experience - preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in and developing or improving ISO9001 quality systems - preferred
  • Experience with IATF16949 quality systems - preferred
  • Lean Manufacturing experience – preferred
  • Six Sigma experience - preferred
  • Experience developing and supporting production quality control systems (e.g. Control Plans, FMEA, MSA, Calibration) - preferred
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control - preferred

Responsibilities

  • Interdepartmental collaboration to solve problems, reduce non-conformance rates, and implement corrective actions.
  • RMA Evaluation Support – Ensure that proper root cause analysis is performed. Lead cross-functional collaboration of the investigations as required.
  • Oversee containment and countermeasure activities when production defects are discovered.
  • Lead corrective action planning and implementation teams.
  • Use data analysis for early identification of problems.
  • Lead continual improvement activities, using production quality data to identify and prioritize activities and report the success of improvements to management.
  • Ensure lessons learned from previous projects are used to improve the quality management process.
  • Develop quality control routines in production – part master and production start checklists, timely NCR processing, real time data analysis, etc.
  • Perform measurement system analyses.
  • Perform Pprocess capability analysesis.
  • Ensure process documentation is in place and up to date. Notify authors and document control when changes are required.
  • Participating on the Material Review Board
  • Support development and utilization of product traceability systems.
  • Participate in and support the internal auditing systems.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned
