About The Position

JOB SUMMARY: Process donations through a sequential process involving sorting, grading, pricing, hanging, tagging and packaging.

Requirements

  • Basic math ability.
  • Familiarity with Goodwill Central Coast’s mission and general Company policies/procedures (this may be learned on the job).
  • Ability to communicate in basic oral and written English (depending on location, ability to communicate in basic Spanish may be desirable and/or acceptable).
  • Ability to understand and accept directions and follow procedures.
  • Ability to perform routine work, adapting to change as it relates to work flow without loss of efficiency.
  • Ability to maintain self-control and work in cooperation with co-workers.
  • Ability to coordinate eyes/hands/fingers to quickly and safety manipulate and handle items.
  • Ability to examine items and visually differentiate between them based on quality standards.
  • Ability to meet and maintain established production and quality standards, as communicated by the supervisor.
  • Ability to demonstrate satisfactory attendance, according to Goodwill Central Coast policy.
  • Ability to adhere to safe work practices as documented in Company safety policies; ability to report safety hazards/accidents promptly to supervisor or safety committee member.

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Sort and grade textile/clothing and hard sort items by separating into predetermined classifications (e.g., men’s women’s children’s and other textiles) and into quality level (e-commerce, retail store grade, Outlet grade or recycle).
  • Sort and grade hard sort items; glassware and small wares (e-commerce, retail store grade, Outlet grade or recycle), placing incomplete and/or broken items into containers for the Outlet, recycle or trash.
  • Process and check items, (e-commerce, retail store grade, Outlet grade or recycle) following established procedures.
  • Price items meeting quality standards.
  • Tag items meeting quality standards by affixing appropriate price tags or labels.
  • Work with clients who are assigned for vocational services, as requested.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
