The Production - Process Control Engineer role serves as a technical resource for operations personnel, focusing on optimizing plant operations, resolving issues, and ensuring the production of cost-effective, high-quality products. This key position involves collaboration across departments and may also act as a backup for the Operations Manager, maintaining communication with various teams to achieve operational goals.

  • Understand applicable process technology, equipment, unit operations, and control technology to optimize operations.
  • Participate in advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis to address unplanned events.
  • Support daily activities and production requirements to meet goals safely and within budget.
  • Monitor and report on daily production, shipping activities, and product quality, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Serve as the Scale-Up Coordinator, assisting with plant recipe systems and new product development activities.
  • Assist in resolving issues identified in audits and lead action plan implementation for process safety management.
  • Lead or participate in Process Hazard Analyses, Management of Change, and Incident Investigations.
  • Communicate technical information to plant personnel and technology centers.
  • Initiate changes to plant operating procedures and ensure they are up-to-date.
  • Apply skills in Statistical Process Control (SPC) to maximize asset utilization and product quality.
  • Participate in project commissioning and startup activities.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining operator interface graphics and control system programming codes.
  • Provide training and support for plant tools and technology.
  • Maintain detailed functional specifications for DCS programming.
  • Participate in project commissioning and startup activities, including tuning control loops and validating alarms.
  • Support manufacturing staff in training on process control code and functionality.
  • Comply with HSEQ Policy and internal regulations, reporting hazards and incidents as necessary.
  • Develop skills for professional growth in alignment with plant objectives.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in chemical batch processing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering required.
  • Six Sigma experience preferred.
  • Process Safety experience preferred (PHA, LOPA, Safety Instrumented Systems).
  • Root Cause Investigation experience preferred (e.g., Cause Map, TapRoot, 5-Why).
  • Familiarity with IP-21 or similar data historian preferred.
  • Hands-on knowledge of ISO, Integrated Management Systems, SPC & SQC.
  • DCS and batch manager experience preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and project management abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to develop performance improvement goals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Knowledge of asset utilization tracking and analysis through RtPM.
