About The Position

SUMMARY: The Production Planning Manager is responsible for developing and optimizing production schedules and coordinating labor, equipment and materials to ensure efficient manufacturing of products to meet both internal and external customer demands and company goals. RESPONSIBILITIES: Include but are not limited to the following. The Company reserves the right to add to, delete, change, or modify the essential duties and responsibilities at any time. All work is to be completed with minimal supervision and in accordance with Company standards. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • This role requires at least 5 years of experience in production planning or a similar leadership capacity, combined with a deep understanding of industry methodologies.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other report writing and project planning software. Proficiency in using purchasing software and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive production plans to ensure timely performance, considering sales forecasts, historical usage, material availability, resource capacity and on-time delivery requirements.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive production KPI’s to ensure timely performance, track and report results, and regularly communicating same with all stakeholders.
  • Develop time standards for production tasks to establish daily shift expectations for labor and equipment efficiencies.
  • Analyze total product demand and translate that into actionable production schedules that meet or exceed On Time Performance goals.
  • Coordinate with Sourcing, Procurement and Inventory Control to help manage inventory levels to prevent stockouts or overstocking, optimizing material procurement strategies.
  • Estimate material, equipment, and labor requirements for each production run.
  • Schedule work shifts and allocate personnel to production tasks, ensuring optimal crew utilization.
  • Collaborate with Sourcing and Purchasing departments to secure materials and equipment on time and within budget.
  • Monitor production processes, identifying and proactively resolving bottlenecks or delays.
  • Maintain clear and up-to-date production documentation for seamless information flow.
  • Oversee production data analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and areas for process improvement.
  • Generate plant capability studies and Inventory management tools.
  • Generate production reports to communicate performance metrics and progress to stakeholders.
  • Foster a collaborative environment, effectively communicating with various departments like Demand Planning, Sourcing, Procurement, Sales, Engineering, and production floor personnel.
