About The Position

This position is responsible for all cost-estimated activities in accordance with the rules and policies of The YGS Group. The position is responsible for assessing data to determine financial, time, material, and labor requirements, managing, controlling, planning, coordinating, reporting, expediting, and monitoring the flow of work and materials within or between departments in accordance with the production schedule. Duties include reviewing and distributing production work, and shipment schedules; conferring with department managers to determine progress of work and completion dates; and compiling reports on progress of work, creating and distributing the weekly overtime report, and conducting schedule meetings to provide updates to Production and Account Managers. The position also interacts with third party vendors to ensure the needs of the business are met in a timely manner. The position is responsible for ensuring that all related operational systems, production equipment, maintenance schedules, repairs, and work processes are continually evaluated to ensure proper functionality, relevance, utilization, and overall efficiency. The position evaluates and implements process improvements, performance measures, and management methods designed to reduce rework, increase return on investment, optimize workflow efficiency, and foster innovation across operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, required.
  • Prior experience in a high-volume print production environment; understanding of materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods, required.
  • Experience in the business and management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, production methods, and coordination of people and resources, within a commercial print environment, required.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, and their applications, required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of USPS regulations and Domestic Mail, required.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, Outlook, required.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.
  • Ability to effectively interact with direct reports, management, support departments, and other internal customers as well as external customers.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree, in Business/Industrial Management, Industrial Engineering, Graphics Arts and Communications, or related field, preferred.
  • Knowledge of EFI - Pace system, a plus.
  • Exceptional knowledge of all aspects of the functions and duties of the bindery and finishing production areas.
  • Competence in MS Office (Outlook, TEAMS, Word, Excel, Power Point) and other related applications (Pace and Printflow) and scheduling systems.
  • Understanding of print, bindery, and finishing process including prepress procedures, platemaking, paper grades, printing registration, color, and chemistry as well as collating, finishing, and shipping processes.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, plan, coordinate, and control printing processes for all production departments within Print Solutions.
  • Review documents, such as production schedules, work orders, and staffing levels, to determine human resources, material requirements, and/or material priorities.
  • Hold AM daily schedule meetings with production managers and account managers to share status updates or changes in schedule.
  • Distribute production schedules, and/or work orders to departments.
  • Schedule and confirm order specifications and coordinate adjustments, as needed.
  • Available to answer scheduling issues 24/7 and to provide updated schedules when necessary.
  • Compile data, or documentation and prepare regular reporting, as assigned.
  • Work with other production departments and customer service departments according to the scale of the work-in-hand.
  • Confer with department supervisors, or other personnel to assess progress and discuss needed changes.
  • Work with purchasing agent to schedule the delivery of materials needed to meet the production schedule.
  • Responsible for the planning and forecasting of the production operations.
  • Attend, actively and collaboratively participate in the daily production status meetings.
  • Review production schedules, available materials, and workforce resources, continuously each day.
  • Inform associates of production and material problems and coordinate with support departments to resolve problems affecting schedules.
  • Analyze available production and financial data to inform operational decisions and activities.
  • Work collaboratively with others, internally and externally, to ensure customer satisfaction, improved efficiency, and increased revenue.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment.
  • Create, maintain, and update a variety of reports, records, and production documentation.
  • Ensure that all safety related policies and procedures are in place and enforced.
