Summary: Evaluates customer order requirements, then plans, prepares and initiates production schedules for manufacturing and assembly to meet scheduled delivery commitments in conjunction with department and plant goals.

Requirements

  • High School diploma plus college degree preferred.
  • Combined working experience including supervision of section/group for a minimum of 1 year for which planning function will be performed.
  • Good logic, mathematic and writing skills.
  • Well organized and capable of working under pressure.
  • Capable of setting priorities for projects and re-arranging same to meet the production schedule.
  • Proficient with MRP, demand planning, capacity planning and Excel spreadsheet software/systems.

Responsibilities

  • Updates the daily production schedule.
  • Prepares the daily and monthly production plan for finish goods, factory WIPs, and bulk.
  • Leads daily production meeting, coordinates and communicates priorities to support groups.
  • Prepares weekly assembly and people goal schedule and, when business trend warrants, a monthly goal schedule.
  • Reviews RCCP and S&OP for upcoming trends and challenges.
  • On new orders, establishes manufacturing date and assigns order completion date based on scheduling availability, and customer requested delivery, confirm all sales orders.
  • Prepares monthly forecast based on booked orders.
  • Communicates with manufacturing and assembly supervisors to ensure an efficient operating schedule.
  • Communicates with Purchasing, Inventory Control, Quality Control and Order Department both on information received and required to schedule orders on time.
  • Creates Risk Mitigation action plans based on what-if scenario analysis.
  • Communicates standard sale order due dates.
  • Routinely assesses packaging and manufacturing equipment capacity against customer order utilization. Proactively recommends alternatives to labor, shifts, equipment, etc. to meet customer order commitments.
  • Evaluates open order backlog to identify equipment, work center or manpower capacity constraints. Recommends adjustments to equipment, and/or manpower, production goals to produce quality product on time at the least possible cost.
  • Works closely with Customer Service/Project Management and Purchasing to maximize inventory turns and to meet inventory goals.
  • Prepares status reports as required by Production.
  • Contacts CSR’s to update delivery and changes of sales order.
  • Request/creates all batch cards necessary for sales order.
  • Responsible for bulk inventory disposition/liability.
  • All other duties as assigned.
