Primary Objective As a Production Planner at MTS Systems, you will play a key role in ensuring the seamless flow of materials and production schedules across both MRP and MRD driven production lines. Your primary responsibility will be to develop, manage, and optimize production schedules that meet customer demands while maintaining efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. This role requires a strong understanding of both material planning and demand-driven production systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, procurement, engineering, and supply chain, to ensure that production targets and timelines are met.

Requirements

  • 2 Year degree in business or technical field with 8 years' experience working with a computer-based ERP/MRP system or 12 years' experience working with a computer-based ERP/MRP system

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years' experience working in industrial equipment manufacturing environment
  • 2+ years' experience with SAP
  • 2+ years' experience

Responsibilities

  • Production Scheduling & Planning: Develop and maintain production schedules based on MRP and MRD inputs.
  • Analyze forecasted demand and available capacity to align production plans with customer requirements and inventory levels.
  • Coordinate with production teams to ensure timely completion of orders and adherence to schedules.
  • Coordinates and schedules “walk-in” work requests to minimize disruption to scheduled work while meeting priorities of all demand types.
  • Material Requirements Management: Work with procurement teams to ensure that materials are available in the right quantity at the right time for both MRP and MRD driven lines.
  • Oversee inventory management to minimize shortages and excess stock.
  • Utilize MRP systems to plan material requirements and ensure alignment with production schedules.
  • Ensures Master Material settings are correct and updated.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to ensure that schedules are feasible, and any potential bottlenecks are proactively addressed.
  • Provide regular status updates and production forecasts to management.
  • Notifies area Manager and Supervisor in advance when future demand does not align with capacity.
  • Assists in balancing labor demand among different groups when needed.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize the production flow.
  • Assist in implementing best practices for planning, forecasting, and inventory management.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Review key performance metrics to monitor the effectiveness of production schedules and make data-driven adjustments.
  • Provide timely and accurate reports on production progress, material availability, and scheduling adherence.
  • Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving: Respond to any production issues or delays, adjusting schedules as needed to minimize impact on delivery timelines.
  • Address material shortages, production delays, or capacity constraints proactively.
