About the position

The Buyer will support procurement activities within the Supply Chain group at Varex Imaging. This role is crucial for ensuring that materials are delivered on time to meet production schedules and customer demand. The Buyer will engage in vendor selection and management, negotiate pricing, and maintain inventory levels. The procurement process will be managed from requisition to delivery, ensuring that all aspects of the supply chain are effectively coordinated.

Responsibilities

  • Support production scheduling and communicate potential material issues that may impact customer orders.
  • Participate in vendor selection and management, negotiating pricing while maintaining inventory levels.
  • Review and execute purchase requisitions ensuring proper authorization and specifications.
  • Manage inventory levels to pre-established targets within commodities.
  • Handle all ECO duties including supplier communication, updating PO revisions, and coordinating implementation dates.
  • Interface with operational staff on planning and forecasting of customer orders to meet shipments.
  • Manage supplier long-term agreements to reduce costs and improve quality and service.
  • Monitor supplier performance and maintain excellent supplier relations.
  • Work closely with the accounting team to maintain acceptable payment terms and resolve invoice disputes timely.
  • Assist the receiving and incoming inspection group in timely problem resolution.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Business or related field of study.
  • Certification in Inventory Management, APICS and/or Procurement, C.P.M. preferred.
  • 5+ years' experience as a buyer/planner, preferably in the medical device or semiconductor industry.
  • Technical expertise in procurement principles in a medium volume production environment.
  • Technical expertise in planning, negotiation, and contracting for specification controlled and commodity products.
  • Proven track record of teamwork and cultivating strong vendor relationships.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; experience in SAP preferred.
  • Working knowledge of MRP systems, including order management and planning tools.
  • Experience in interpreting MRP demands to buy requirements.
  • Working knowledge of ISO and Medical principles and practices.
