About The Position

The Material Planner is responsible for determining material specifications, maintaining inventory schedules, and managing relationships with suppliers in a just-in-time (JIT) production environment. This role involves monitoring transactions in SAP, ensuring timely orders, and coordinating with various internal departments to meet production goals and customer demands.

Requirements

• College degree in business, supply chain management, logistics, production inventory management, or a related field preferred.
• 3+ years of professional experience in material planning, purchasing, or a related position.
• Strong organization and time management skills.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain management.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and material management systems (SAP, ERP, WMS).
• Experience in automotive manufacturing and project management.

Responsibilities

• Determine required materials and generate scheduling agreements, manifests, or purchasing orders for suppliers.
• Ensure materials meet specifications and customer quality standards while being cost-efficient.
• Maintain a consistent and adequate supply of materials necessary for production in a JIT environment.
• Coordinate with other departments regarding production goals, KPIs, timelines, and supplier payments.
• Track production volume and monitor customer demand patterns and purchasing trends.
• Schedule and oversee the supply and delivery of materials and products.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers, and distributors to manage inventory issues and changes.
• Lead problem-solving sessions to determine root causes and countermeasures.
• Prepare cost estimates and supplier performance reports.
• Work outside of typical business hours and travel as needed, both domestically and internationally.
