About The Position

The Production Planner I coordinates with the operations and procurement teams to ensure the movement of materials and resources through departments to meet production schedules. Crane Aerospace & Electronics supplies critical systems and components to the aerospace and defense markets, found in tough environments from engines to landing gear, satellites to medical implants, and missiles to unmanned aerial systems (UAS). Product built at the Burbank facility is crucial for aircraft safety. The Landing & Cabin Systems team's brake control systems and premium cabin actuation solutions are used on tens of thousands of aircraft globally. The role is within a business with a long track record of engineering excellence, located in Burbank, known for its community atmosphere, schools, weather, and entertainment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in scheduling, supply chain or fulfillment
  • Strong working knowledge of manufacturing, production planning and materials control functions
  • Strong understanding of Kanban Systems, JIT, POU, FIFO, Level loading, with a manufacturing process understanding preferred
  • Expert in using scheduling and capacity planning tools experience with Oracle
  • Significant experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Access
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • BS degree required
  • This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing strongly preferred
  • Experience with Oracle (11i preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Draw up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders
  • Analyze production specifications and plant capacity data to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements
  • Plan and schedule workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times
  • Plan sequence of fabrication and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers
  • Confer with supervisors to determine status of assigned projects; expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions
  • Prepare production reports
  • Prepare purchase orders to obtain materials, tools, and equipment
  • Any other tasks assigned by supervisor or management
