Requirements

  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Experience operating machinery and equipment.
  • Knowledge of MIOSHA standards and safety procedures.
  • Ability to perform quality inspections and measurements.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in reporting.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with automotive components and assemblies.
  • Experience with routine and preventative maintenance of machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Follows written instructions to determine production requirements and part specifications as displayed on scheduling boards and work standard sheets.
  • Manually loads parts or blanks into machine and place parts into inventory baskets.
  • Performs all duties and operates machinery & equipment according to MIOSHA standards and company procedures using required safety equipment (gloves, sleeves, ear plugs, etc.).
  • Inspects components and assemblies visually for quality defects including scrap marks, rust, burrs, lamination, etc.
  • Inspects parts for quality defects. Measures part to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Performs first piece inspection of set-up parts as required by Quality Inspection Instructions and/or as directed by supervisor.
  • Records and reports production, quality and inventory information accurately.
  • Labels and/or tags parts and baskets accurately.
  • Performs destruct in accordance with Quality Inspection Instructions.
  • Maintains documentation of weld destruct test data.
  • Notifies Supervisor when specifications are not being met.
  • Monitors press/weld machine for proper operation and reports any malfunctions or problems to supervisor and maintenance.
  • Coordinate and pre-stage all necessary items for die change.
  • Set up dies, fixtures or assemblies in accordance with MIOSHA standards and company procedures.
  • Starts machine to obtain first run work piece and verifies dimensional tolerances.
  • Reports equipment failures and unusual sounds or actions while operating equipment.
  • Performs routine and preventative maintenance and setup including, but not limited to, machine lubrication, tip changes/filing, and die setting/fastening.
  • Keeps work areas clean and orderly.
  • Punctual and regular attendance is required.
