About The Position

Please note: This position will train for two - three months on 2nd shift (3pm-11.30pm) and will, upon completion of training, move to 1st shift (7am-3.30pm). Rate of pay is $19.00 an hour. The Operator (Emulsions and/or Dispersions) will be responsible for the safe, productive manufacturing processes to produce wet products. Following all written work instructions of quality and operating procedures, the Operator will operate equipment to blend and mix raw materials.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Basic math, reading, and computer skills required.
  • Basic understanding of QC methods (Ph, Solids, Viscosity, etc.) required.
  • Understanding of unloading procedures and ability adjust batch based on QC results, required.
  • Understanding of how to read work orders, batch sheets, and how to use scales (gross, tare, net) required.
  • Process knowledge of support process equipment (boiler, heater, air compressor) required.
  • Basic understanding of how to read work orders, batch sheets, required.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to supervise and train others to assist with required tasks.
  • Must be able to work with equipment that generates high pressures and temperatures.
  • Must be able to work with hazardous materials (acids/bases).
  • Must be able to wear PPE as required (eye protection, rubber gloves, etc.)
  • Must be able to physically lift and carry up to 75 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to charge and discharge pump lines, transfer liquid between vessels, and clean reactor to prepare for the next batch run schedule (rinse or full cleanout).
  • Training for the fork truck operation is required, must be able to pass the requirements and physically operate the fork truck.
  • Prolonged period of standing and walking up to 8 hours per day.
  • Must have high manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to work in various conditions (hot/cold/damp).
  • Occasionally work off elevated platforms (i.e. heightened work surface or ladders).

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of related experience with chemical production processes or in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operates production equipment in accordance with safe manufacturing operating procedures, and the Work Instructions.
  • Ensures that all product produced meets quality specification by properly sanitizing all equipment, following the standards operating procedures and accurately picking and measuring all raw materials.
  • Monitors and uses equipment and materials properly to ensure efficient production standards, while observing safety and security procedures.
  • Completes appropriate documentation to support inventory accuracy, material consumption and production, and batch traceability by recording production information and maintaining production logs as necessary.
  • Performs regular maintenance and cleaning procedures on the production equipment.
  • Works in partnership with the maintenance technician and/or Production Manager to troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues as needed.
  • Recognizes and reports potential hazards within the work area.
  • Loads material into the equipment for product packaging operations.
  • Monitors gage readings during routine operation to ensure operating equipment and support systems operate within specifications and notifies management of abnormal conditions.
  • Follows Batch Sheet to adjust batch temperature, mixing speed, feed rate(s), and support system controls to specified levels to maintain product quality.
  • Cautiously handles hazardous material (Acids/Bases) by following the safety procedures and wearing required PPE.
  • Collect samples in the manner and frequency as specified in the standard operating procedure.
  • Learns how to monitor and react accordingly to different vapor pressures and temperature changes. Ex: Operates machine to heat up or cool down for emergency situations.
  • Understands and closely monitors cycle times and troubleshoots abnormal cycles.
  • Reviews batch sheet to pull necessary inventory and locates desired raw materials.
  • Follows standard operating procedures to make and apply proper identification for the labeling of drums produced.
  • Operates a fork truck to move drums and pallets as needed, adhering to the required safety procedures and having passed the Fork Truck Certification.
  • Inspects manufactured products for accuracy and to ensure the overall quality promise of Shamrock Technologies.
  • Is willing and able to work as part of a team to solve problems, develop procedures, recommend improvements, and help other departments as and when required.
