About The Position

We are seeking a hands-on Production Operator – for the following roles: Brady Spooling, Expansion/Extrusion, and Cutting to join our manufacturing team. This position is full-time and ideal for someone with at least 1 year of machine operation experience who is eager to apply their skills across multiple processes. The AM shift follows a 12‑hour Continental schedule (2‑2‑3) from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.The PM shift follows a 12‑hour Continental schedule (2‑2‑3) from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The hourly pay range for this position is $19.28 to $23.95 per hour.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, product specifications, basic drawings, and safety instructions.
  • Proficient with using measuring tools (rulers, gauges, calipers) to check dimensions and tolerances.
  • Basic math skills to calculate measurements or percentages and basic computer skills to input production data or adjust machine settings via control panels.
  • Understanding of how to start, stop, and safely adjust machines.
  • Quick learner with the ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues
  • Ability to stand and stay focused on a production line for long periods, perform repetitive motions with hands and arms, and safely lift or move materials (frequently up to 50 pounds).
  • Proven ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Good verbal communication and active listening skills to follow instructions and coordinate with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Reliability and punctuality are important.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn and accept feedback are also key to fitting in with our team and culture.
  • Experience & Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience operating machinery in a manufacturing or industrial environment is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with machine setup or changeovers is helpful.
  • Experience with spool winding, plastic extrusion, blow/injection molding, or cutting machines is a strong plus.
  • Experience in using precision measuring tools, including calipers and micrometers, is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate production equipment (spool winding machines, extrusion/expansion lines, and cutting machines) according to work orders and specifications. Adjust machine settings (speed, tension, temperature, blade settings, etc.) and feed materials to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Closely observe machine operations and product output.
  • Monitor gauges, controls, and computer readouts to make sure processes stay within proper parameters.
  • Perform regular quality checks on finished products (e.g., checking measurements, spool winding quality, cut dimensions) and adjust as needed to maintain high quality.
  • Read and interpret work orders or production schedules to determine daily tasks and material requirements.
  • Prepare and load materials (e.g., spools, raw materials) and assemble packaging (spools, boxes) as required.
  • Plan ahead for upcoming orders by staging materials or adjusting the schedule to meet deadlines.
  • Perform routine machine care such as cleaning, lubricating, or replacing basic parts (like blades or filters) to keep equipment in good working order.
  • Troubleshoot minor issues (clear jams, re-thread material) safely and promptly. If you encounter equipment malfunctions beyond basic fixes, stop the machine and notify a supervisor or maintenance technician.
  • Assist maintenance staff in identifying issues by describing problems clearly.
  • Always operate equipment with safety as the top priority.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and standard operating instructions. Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) (safety glasses, gloves, ear protection, etc.) consistently.
  • Make sure machine guards and safety features are in place before starting operations.
  • Participate in safety trainings and initiatives, and help promote an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) workplace by reporting hazards or near-misses and suggesting improvements.
  • Work as part of a tight-knit team that flexes between different production areas.
  • Be willing to assist co-workers with their tasks (for example, help on the extrusion line or packaging area) when your own machines are down or when another area is especially busy.
  • Cross-train on multiple processes so you can fill in or rotate as needed.
  • Accurately record production data such as run times, quantities produced, and any downtime or scrap.
  • Use basic computer/data entry systems or production tracking software to log information.
  • Complete any required paperwork, like quality checklists or shift reports, thoroughly and correctly.
  • Take an active role in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Be open to learning new methods or technologies.
  • Perform other production-related duties as assigned by management.
