About The Position

Production Operators are responsible for operating manufacturing equipment, ingredients batching, packaging, receiving of raw materials and shipping finished goods. In addition, they could perform any of the following packaging tasks: labeling, coding, filling, check weighing, sealing and palletizing. They are also responsible for the general cleaning, including washdown of the plant and other duties as specified by their supervisor. Following prescribed procedures and under general supervision, the Production Operator performs these duties.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all equipment required for material movement; this includes fork trucks, drum handler and hand trucks.
  • Receiving, ship and transfer material and supplies. Prepare material for shipment by labeling, marking, palletizing and other methods. They move and stack material in their department. Weighs of those containers range from 50# cartons to 50# bags and 700# drums.
  • Operate equipment to manufacture, package and weigh products.
  • Adjust and operate weighing systems to give proper amount of product in a container. The product is then hand-stacked on pallets at varying rates up to 160 200# drums, 640 50# cartons or 640 50# bags for 8 hours shift.
  • Gather packaging and other materials needed for their operation. Operate package forming and conveying equipment. Package, palletize, stretch wrap and label finished product.
  • Repair damage contains promptly to ensure product is not contaminated.
  • Clean production areas and process equipment as required to meet plant sanitation standards.
  • Take direction through written and verbal communication; both reading and writing skills are required.
  • Act consistent with established procedures during any emergency conditions. Notify appropriate personnel when they observe that emergency conditions exist. Work in accordance with established safety procedures and use prescribed safety equipment. Follow all safety rules
  • Carry out minor troubleshooting and maintenance on equipment and instruments. Promptly see further technical and/or maintenance help when such repairs fail to yield corrective action.
  • Perform job in other classifications and departments, as required by supervisors.
  • Required to work any shift or shift schedule as required by supervisors
  • Assist in training personnel
  • Prepare records of activities in logbooks, batch log sheets or other forms.
