Covia is looking for a dynamic Production Operator who will have a positive impact on the Operations team at its Oregon, IL location. The successful candidate will have the following Key Accountabilities: Work in a safe manner and abide by all Covia and MSHA safety rules, regulations and best practices. Be physically capable of performing job duties of a General laborer, which include but are not limited to: Be capable of walking on uneven ground and up and down hills. Be capable of climbing ladders and working at height. Be capable of wearing a respirator, safety harness, safety glasses, hard hat and other Personnel Protective Equipment. Be capable of working in year-round outdoor conditions which include hot, cold and wet weather. Be capable of working on all production shifts, which include, 1 st , 2 nd , or 3 rd shifts. This is a union environment and junior employees are assigned to the least desirable position on the least desirable shift. Be capable of push, pull, lift and carry 50 pounds on a continuous basis. Be capable of shoveling on a continuous basis. Be capable of being trained to operate stationary and mobile equipment in a harsh quarry environment. Knowledge of operating mobile equipment or maintenance practices is desirable. Be capable of reading and understanding safety warnings, safety procedures and written Job Instructions. Be capable of completing other duties as assigned or deemed necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • 2-3 years of experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of operating mobile equipment or maintenance practices is desirable.
