About the job The Operators at the Fort Worth plant is responsible for the operation of the sulfonation and neutralization processes in a safe and environmentally friendly manner to deliver product of the highest quality and correct quantity in accordance with production schedules, standard operating procedures and management instructions. In your future role as Production Operator, you will Operators are responsible for their own safety as well as the safety of all of our employees, contractors, visitors, and the community.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Training and Certification in Forklift Operation is required.
  • Computer skills, including use of E-mail and knowledge of SAP are required.
  • Training in loading and unloading of acid and oil rail cars.
  • Training and skills achievement in Sulfonation, Liquid, Loader/Unloader operations, and General Plant duties.
  • Must be able to follow procedures.
  • General physical requirements involve the ability to ascend/descend stairs and ladders. Pulling, pushing, and/or lifting up to 50 pounds. Reaching overhead, kneeling, and bending.
  • Must be able to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment including, but not limited to, hardhats, safety glasses, goggles, shields, aprons, earplugs, and safety shoes.
  • Must be able to pass a Respirator Fit Test and don a respirator in all applicable operations.

Responsibilities

  • Do forklift safety inspections and weekly eyewash/safety shower inspections.
  • Operators are required to be trained to issue safe work practice permits as required, and monitor any activities within their process area, which includes exclusion zones.
  • Responsible for site entry control.
  • Participation in the BBS process for the Fort Worth plant.
  • Attend regular safety meetings.
  • Sulfonator Operators are required to participate in the plant’s Industrial Hygiene program, which includes yearly physical examinations and monitoring activities. These will include noise and air quality monitoring, and respirator fit testing.
  • All operators are required to report all spills and leaks using the ZRI system, and complete any environmental inspections and checklists as required.
  • Sulfonator Operators are responsible for sampling product and taking to the laboratory for Quality checks.
  • Operators monitor process control data to assure product quality.
  • Sulfonator Operators perform routine maintenance on equipment and report equipment malfunctions requiring maintenance by doing work notifications in SAP.
  • Sulfonator Operators shall complete all required initial and refresher training for the job and ISO qualification. Also provide on-the-job training for new or transferring employees.
  • Blend corrosive and flammable raw materials by means of a glass lined pressure vessels. This is done while consistently maintaining a set pressure, flow rate, and temperature as per manufacturing procedures.
  • The Sulfonator is in charge of neutralizing the rudimentary form of the Sulfonation product. This involves handling corrosive materials along with a lime and slurry mix for pH adjustments in a non-pressurized vessel.
  • Monitors and regulates the plant water outflow from secondary containment areas as well as the outflow plant pit and maintains the waste water pit pH and oil skimmer system.
  • Receives and unloads raw materials when needed.
  • Drums finished product, blends batches, and dumps scrap when needed.
  • Housekeeping.
  • Accurate tank gauging, Operating the Sulfonator and Pfaudler reactors in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Operation of the Lime Slaker and ordering Quicklime as needed.
  • Loading and unloading of Finished Product tank trucks.
  • Operating the scrubber system and using the cooling tower and chiller system.
  • Setting up area for freeze protection as needed.
  • Accurate relief information at shift changes.
  • Monitors the operations of process controls to assure proper and consistent operating parameters such as process temperatures, process flow rate, subsystem operations, product transfers, and sampling of product to ensure Quality Control.
  • Troubleshooting when problems occur.
  • Keeps accurate records on batch tickets to reflect operations information during his shift.
  • Product transfers from the Sulfonation area to the Liquid area as required.
  • Sulfonator Operators shall complete all required initial and refresher training for the job and ISO qualification.
  • Job tasks include, but are not limited too, Sulfonation, Liquid, and Loader/Unloader operations, as well as General Plant duties.
  • Duties also include providing on-the-job training for new or transferring employees
  • Any other task the operator is trained for as deemed necessary by Supervision
