About The Position

MSA Safety is seeking a passionate, motivated, and driven individual for a Production Operator role at their manufacturing plant in New Kensington, PA. In this role, the Production Operator will be responsible for performing all tasks related to production, inspection, testing, and general plant activities. This includes working from both verbal and written instructions, samples, drawings, and wiring diagrams, as well as operating a variety of hand tools and miscellaneous bench machines and assembly equipment. The operator will also perform necessary setups on equipment, detect faulty material, record information, report unusual conditions to a supervisor, and may install components on customer repair units. Additionally, the role involves assisting Maintenance Mechanics in duties not requiring specialized skills or licensure, performing certain janitorial duties, and actively participating in Continuous Improvement activities. The position requires adherence to work standards, ensuring finished work complies with instructions, identifying conflicts in instructions or visually defective components before use, and maintaining a clean and orderly work area (5S).

Requirements

  • Work around various chemicals (1-2 hours a day)
  • Move machinery (1-2 hours a day)
  • Skills can be obtained through on the job training.
  • Keeping work areas in a neat, orderly, and safe condition.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all tasks related to production, inspection, testing, and general plant activities.
  • Performs miscellaneous tasks such as cutting, filling, gluing, packing, etc.
  • Works from both verbal and written instructions, samples, drawings, wiring diagrams, etc.
  • Operates a variety of hand tools and miscellaneous bench machines and assembly equipment such as cut-off press, terminal crimping machines, soldering irons, and spot welders, etc.
  • Performs necessary setups on equipment to be used.
  • Detects faulty material, records information and reports unusual conditions to supervisor.
  • May install components (parts) on customer (repair) units.
  • Assists Maintenance Mechanic in all duties not requiring specialized skills or licensure, including installing, dismantling, and moving machines and other equipment.
  • Performs certain janitorial duties.
  • Actively participates in Continuous Improvement activities
  • Finished work is in compliance with verbal and written instructions, samples, drawings, wiring diagrams, etc.
  • Conflicts in instructions or visually defective components are identified before use.
  • Responsible for 5S of all areas in the plant.
  • Must keep work area in clean and orderly condition.
