About The Position

SUMMARY Leads in the set up and operation of a production line by interpreting production requirements and by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Leads and directs the operation of the assigned production line(s) and associated production equipment to ensure customer requirements are met. May assist with new hire and operator training. Ensures complete appropriate documentation, work instructions, work orders, etc. are available to all employees for setup, operation, monitoring, and maintaining the production line. Reads and interprets production work orders to determine that appropriate machine process settings are used to control machine settings, menus, recipes, or other process variables. Verifies that production line setup is correct in accordance with standard practices, machine setup instructions, and work instructions and that product conforms to requirements by reference to product specifications, test results, control charts, visual samples or other means of defining acceptance criteria. Maintains equipment by performing and directing the team in performing and documenting the prescribed activities. Assures proper safety rules and requirements are observed and refers any unresolved safety issues to the Shift Manager. Assures good housekeeping and workplace organization are maintained. Refers worker grievances or disciplinary issues to Shift Manager for action. Ensures proper control, accounting, reporting, and preservation of raw material, WIP, and finished goods inventory in accordance with established procedures, work instructions, and practices.

  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to count, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Able to read and interpret tape measure.
  • Attention to details Calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, and fractions.
  • Ability to read and interpret charts used for process control.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED.
  • Strongly prefer 5years in manufacturing environment operating machine equipment successfully.
  • Understands Feeds, Speeds, LOTO, etc.
  • Leadership abilities to work and direct self-directed teams as needed.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • COMPUTER SKILLS Operate various production software programs to perform equipment setup and make data entries.
  • REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
