About The Position

The Production Operator in Sabetha, Kansas is a Welder position responsible for work in the high bay area of the fabrication department, running laser cutters and operating machine tools that cut, shape, and form metal. The role involves performing CNC and manual fabrication to blueprint specifications or cut lists on a variety of metal products, including layout, rolling, cutting, shearing, drilling, breaking, and punching. The operator will set up and operate light-duty bench- or floor-type machine tools and equipment such as small lathes, power mills, extruding machines, drills, punch presses, brakes, shears, and saws to perform various metalworking operations. Additionally, the operator will provide on-site technical assistance for troubleshooting, check work using prescribed gauges, jigs, and fixtures to measure against prescribed tolerances, and perform work fixing bad welds or misbuilt products. The position also involves building filters and may require climbing on 6–10-foot ladders or 20-foot scissor lifts and/or genie booms during the day in the high bay area. The operator will maintain steel inventory, unload raw materials from trucks, stock racks, sort, kit, and assemble parts for work orders, and perform general basic maintenance on equipment and workstation to ensure a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read reports and use a computer.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Skill in reading blueprints and technical instructions.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to perform general physical work including standing, walking, kneeling, pushing, pulling, crawling, and lifting up to 40 pounds throughout the day.
  • Past manufacturing, welding, construction, farming, or related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Mig welding experience is preferred.
  • Any prior welding (tig, etc.) experience is a plus.

Responsibilities
