A qualified Electrical Tester has the working knowledge to operate various test units performing various electrical tests on single conductor and multi-conductor cables. The Electrical Tester understands and performs all tasks safely and in conformance with posted procedures and instructions. The tester is expected to detect defective equipment and/or defective product and report findings to a supervisor. These are the general duties required to fulfill the Electrical Tester job description, not a detailed description of all work required. New duties and responsibilities may be required to meet the changing demands of the business. This is a 2nd shift (3pm-11pm M-F) position. Requirements

  • A qualified Electrical Tester has the working knowledge to operate various test units performing various electrical tests on single conductor and multi-conductor cables.
  • The Electrical Tester understands and performs all tasks safely and in conformance with posted procedures and instructions.
  • The tester is expected to detect defective equipment and/or defective product and report findings to a supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Load and prep various types of single and multi-conductor cables into wet and dry test cages. Cut final inspection samples, retrieve test specifications from computer and copy onto TDA, create finish tags, length sheets and other test documents as required.
  • Demonstrate a safe working knowledge of various types of electrical test equipment (including hipotronics dielectric AC/DC test sets, general radio meghom meter, digital read-out OHMS meters, American mid-point tester, hipotronics multi-lead AC test unit and hipotronics 25KV AC test unit) to perform required testing on single and multi-conductor cable in compliance with prescribed specifications. Legibly record all test results accurately on proper documentation forms.
  • Demonstrate the ability to detect and report failing product, poor cable traverses, reel conditions, unacceptable print legends.
  • Label and stamp acceptable product with finish tags and proper UL labels. End cap both cable ends with heat shrink caps. Neatly secure top and bottom ends to sides of reels. Unload and reload cage as needed or as instructed by the supervisor.
  • Demonstrate safe work practices by following the safe work practice summary and all department safety rules and regulations when using test sets to insure personal safety as well as a safe work environment for other employees.
