About The Position

The Production Operator I position at APC involves promoting safety, maintaining a sanitary food environment, and ensuring the highest quality product is produced. The role requires working 12-hour shifts, which may include days or nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. The operator will be responsible for operating production equipment under supervision, monitoring product parameters, maintaining cleanliness, and adhering to safety and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Ability to prepare and operate all packaging machinery.
  • General knowledge of production/manufacturing methods.
  • Ability to read gauges and record data legibly.
  • Ability to learn to handle inedible protein materials according to sanitary procedures.
  • Ability to understand and follow established work procedures.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak in English.
  • Ability to operate forklift/pallet jack.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to move freely throughout the plant.
  • Ability to remain calm during peak periods.
  • Ability to troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Willingness to work daily and overtime as necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations.
  • Previous experience operating forklifts.

Responsibilities

  • Operate production equipment under the supervision of the shift supervisor.
  • Monitor product volume, temperatures, times, and pressure readings.
  • Record information from gauges as needed.
  • Understand product flow and handling procedures.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
  • Perform tasks related to receiving, starting, running, shutting down, and cleaning equipment.
  • Collect hourly production readings and monitor machinery.
  • Ensure proper documentation of charts according to regulations.
  • Operate pallet jack and forklift.
  • Prepare bags for filling using established labeling systems.
  • Fill, weigh, seal, and load bags on pallets.
  • Comply with company food safety and quality policies.
  • Perform elementary mechanical and carpentry repairs as instructed.
  • Engage in continuous improvement and process improvement.
  • Demonstrate good judgment in safeguarding information.
  • Maintain cooperative working relationships with other departments.
