Requirements

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Reads job specifications (work orders) and/or consults with previous shift operators to determine machine adjustments and material requirements for jobs that will be run.
• Sets rollers, dies and guides as specified by job requirements.
• Observes machine operation throughout the line to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction.
• Measures work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation and makes subsequent adjustments as required to achieve proper dimensions.
• When a size change occurs, checks and ensures that uncoilers, pre-straighteners, peelers, straighteners, grinders, saws, and/or sander/polishers are set up properly for new job.
• Replaces parts and makes adjustments as necessary.
• Changes rollers in the straightener as required.
• Generally oversees work activities of Inspector and Material Handlers on his/her line.
• Performs the functions of Inspector or Material Handler when necessary.
