About The Position

The position involves operating hydraulic presses in various molding operations, handling both long and short production runs of products made from different rubber compounds. The operator is responsible for setting up the press line for maximum efficiency, performing inspections, troubleshooting defects, and maintaining equipment. The role requires attention to detail and adherence to quality control standards throughout the molding cycle.

Requirements

• Knowledge of quality control requirements related to degreasing and spraying of product.
• Ability to lift a maximum weight of 30 lbs.
• Experience with operating hydraulic presses and performing inspections.

Responsibilities

• Operates hydraulic presses for molding operations.
• Completes opening and closing of press/mold manually and using control buttons.
• Sets up assigned press line for maximum efficiency and productivity.
• Raises and lowers presses as needed.
• Applies mold wash to cavities and inserts blanks in mold cavities by hand.
• Loads board, pots, or plates into the press.
• Cures stock for prescribed length of time.
• Removes finished molded pieces from mold cavities and deposits them in containers.
• Inspects pre-molded blanks for defects and proper weights during initial start-up.
• Troubleshoots press when defects occur with the product.
• Inspects finished molded pieces using gauges.
• Provides input on data codes, durometer checks, stock availability, and mold conditions.
• Verifies mold cleaning correctness and predetermines pressures, cure times, and temperatures.
• Performs finishing operations on molded rubber items.
• Records production and moves finished work to the proper center.
• Maintains equipment, cleans and lubricates machines, and manages dust collectors.
• Handles materials necessary to complete work and ensures non-conforming products do not enter the manufacturing sequence.
• Maintains paperwork associated with inventory and product processing.
• Performs specific duties related to incoming products and shipping.
