About the position

The Production Mechanic plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of manufacturing equipment. This position involves performing troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative and predictive maintenance on various machinery. The mechanic is responsible for repairing equipment during breakdowns and maintaining pipe systems along with hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. Additionally, the role requires reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, sketches, and work orders to effectively plan and complete tasks. The mechanic will utilize a range of tools, from common hand tools to precision measuring instruments, to inspect, operate, and test machinery. Accurate documentation of assignments, machine repairs, and parts inventory is essential, utilizing the site CMMS. Collaboration with department and cross-functional teams is necessary to implement process improvements that enhance customer value. Adherence to established programs, policies, and practices is critical to producing safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company standards. The mechanic will also support the development and maintenance of the Safe Quality Food (SQF) 2000 Systems, ensuring compliance with Turkey Hill's Food Safety and Quality Principles.

Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative and predictive maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
  • Repair equipment during breakdowns.
  • Layout, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, and work orders to plan, layout and complete work.
  • Use tools ranging from common hand tools and power tools to precision measuring instruments and electrical devices.
  • Inspect, operate, or test faulty machinery or equipment.
  • Inspect or test programmable controllers and motors to diagnose machine malfunctions using voltmeters or other troubleshooting tools.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of assignments, machine repairs, and parts inventory utilizing the site CMMS.
  • Work effectively with department and cross-functional teams to define and implement process improvements.
  • Follow established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP), Plant Safety Regulations, Quality Control Standards, and plant policies.
  • Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the Safe Quality Food (SQF) 2000 Systems.
