About The Position

Commercial Fluid Power, a subsidiary of the National Tube Supply Company, specializing in supplying machining services to the fluid power industry is in search of a Production Manager reporting to our Dover, OH location. This individual will manage production planning & scheduling from receipt of purchase order through delivery. Successful applicants will be required to complete a post-off Hair Follicle Drug Screen (approx. 3-6 month window) and background check.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of production scheduling or project management experience, preferably in a fast-paced job shop environment.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience in an industrial environment.
  • Must be extremely driven and a good problem solver.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Experience utilizing an ERP system to gather information, manage workflow, and generate reports / documents.
  • Ability to read complex engineering drawings and understand GD&T.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.
  • Mechanical aptitude and an ability to learn and understand machine capabilities.
  • Knowledge of lean practices and continuous improvement strategies.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ year Engineering degree.
  • Familiarity with prototype and small-batch production

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of personnel who are responsible for material handling throughout the plant, packaging, shipping, receiving, inventory management, and saw cutting on multiple shifts. Includes scheduling, daily prioritization, performance management, discipline, time approval, interviewing, hiring, and training.
  • Responsible for planning and scheduling (receiving, production, sublets, and shipping) to ensure on-time delivery while minimizing cost & WIP. Job shop environment with a lot of different equipment. Requires a willingness to learn the equipment capabilities, typical vendor lead times, and shipping logistics.
  • Leads daily production planning meetings with department managers to set priorities and create alignment throughout the plan. Works with department managers to develop recovery plans when necessary.
  • Works with General Manager to prioritize jobs & recommend outsourcing when customer demand cannot be fulfilled due to equipment or staffing issues.
  • Review open purchase orders for materials and sublet operations weekly and contact (email / phone) vendors for updates.
  • Provides weekly updates to sales and management on bottleneck equipment backlog, department backlog, lead times, and job status.
  • Work with maintenance to ensure equipment is maintained.
  • Recommend and update processes and procedures to improve operational costs and quality.
  • Manage department tools / tooling.
  • Participate in the purchase of new capital equipment.
  • Participate in safety committee and enforce safety procedures.
