The Production Manager is responsible for safely leading daily manufacturing operations to meet production, quality, and efficiency goals. This role focuses on maintaining strong shop floor standards, improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and developing a capable, flexible production team.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or associate’s degree
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment (plastics preferred)
  • Prior leadership experience in production or operations
  • Strong understanding of safety systems, OEE, and shop floor management
  • Ability to lead teams, drive accountability, and improve performance
  • Practical, hands-on leadership style

Responsibilities

  • Own and promote a strong safety culture
  • Ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Lead safety audits, investigations, and corrective actions
  • Hold supervisors and operators accountable for safe work practices
  • Establish and maintain clear shop floor standards (5S, housekeeping, visual controls, standard work)
  • Ensure production areas are clean, organized, and operating to standard
  • Address deviations quickly and drive consistent execution across shifts
  • Monitor and improve OEE through reduction of downtime, scrap, and inefficiencies
  • Use production data to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities
  • Work closely with maintenance, quality, and engineering to resolve chronic issues
  • Drive daily accountability for production targets
  • Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and machine operators
  • Support a skills-based workforce where operators are trained and qualified on multiple machines
  • Promote cross-training to increase flexibility and coverage
  • Set clear expectations and provide regular feedback on performance
