About The Position

The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the production process, ensuring efficient and timely completion of all truck upfitting projects. This role involves coordinating with various departments, managing production staff, maintaining quality and safety standards, and optimizing production processes to meet business goals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Industrial Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a production management role, preferably in the automotive or truck upfitting industry.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and planning abilities.
  • Proficiency in production planning software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer delivery dates and optimize workflow.
  • Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as necessary.
  • Manage capacity levels to meet ebb and flow of demand plans.
  • Supervise and lead a team of production workers, including hiring, training, evaluating, and developing staff.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and develop staff through ongoing training and development programs.
  • Ensure all upfitting work meets company quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance protocols and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and increase productivity.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with the purchasing department to ensure timely procurement of materials and components.
  • Manage inventory levels to prevent shortages or excesses and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and promote a culture of safety within the production team.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions.
  • Prepare and manage the production budget, monitoring expenses and ensuring cost-effective operations.
  • Analyze production costs and implement cost-saving measures where possible.
  • Liaise with the sales and customer service teams to ensure customer requirements are understood and met.
  • Address and resolve any production-related customer issues or concerns.
  • Maintain accurate production records and prepare regular reports on production metrics, including output, efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Present production performance data to senior management and suggest improvements.
  • Performs other related tasks as may be assigned.
