About The Position

SUMMARY : Oversees daily manufacturing operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and timeliness within budget. Includes planning production schedules, managing resources, supervising staff, and maintaining equipment to meet company goals and safety standards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES : Coordinates plant activities through planning and scheduling with department supervisors to ensure total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner. Schedules, assigns and manages supervisors, capitalizing on their developed skills to maximize productivity and efficiency. Establishes and monitors plant performance and efficiencies for production and quality of product. Manages all expenditures effectively that are relative to production. Applies sound judgment and discretion in decision-making and utilizes problem solving techniques to identify and resolve production issues and to minimize labor overtime, rework labor and premium freight costs. Maintains plant operations within expected safety and productivity standards. Communicates with Maintenance Supervisor regarding equipment safety needs and ensures those needs are resolved in a timely manner. Comprehends written and verbal instructions and translates them into actionable tasks in support of the production process. Analyzes and assesses production and/or other reports and identifies trends or issues that require action. Resolves issues effectively, trains and develops supervisors for maximum flexibility, and maximizes production human capital. Uses technology effectively, is technically competent in all aspects of production, understands technical issues related to his/her position, a functional expert. Demonstrates competence in the use of software systems and applications, maximizes use and potential for improving production efficiency. Uses time effectively. Demonstrates highly developed organization skills. Effectively communicates with engineering and quality to ensure all issues regarding bill of materials, routings and the quality of processes and materials are resolved. Provides feedback to managers on production and labor issues in a timely and effective manner for quick resolution. Forecasts labor and security needs to coincide with production levels and effectively communicates those needs to Human Resources to meet company objectives and maximize efficiency. Actively participates in training needs of all employees regarding safety, yearly employee updates and all other training relative to required Federal, State and Local requirements. Plans and facilitates employee evaluations or disciplinary actions relative to areas of responsibilities with Human Resources. TRAINING : Must receive annual safety training and annual training on handling hazardous waste relative in accordance with state and federal regulations. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : Production and Maintenance Supervisors. QUALIFICATIONS : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) and a minimum of three to four years of progressive production experience of a facility performing simple assembly or mechanical processing system in a non-union environment.
  • Has demonstrated positive results in productive labor standards and work measurements.
  • Understands quality control processes and has worked in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Has demonstrated effective use of performance feedback, coaching and leadership.
  • Well-developed communication skills in written and verbal formats.
  • Knowledge of basic mechanical systems and the ability to identify problems and make simple mechanical adjustments.
  • Expert management skills, know how to direct, coach, delegate and oversee production supervisors involved in supervising simple assembly and process operations.
  • Knowledge of basic software applications, Microsoft Office, ERP applications, good basic keyboarding skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of labor and safety legislation as it applies to the production management role.
  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of mathematics and English language skills associated with communicating with upper-level executives, subordinates, outside vendors and customers and interpreting forecasts, trends, market analysis and other various production reports.
