About The Position

Position Overview The Production Manager reports directly to Plant Manager. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of production operations within the mill manufacturing plant. This role ensures compliance with OSHA regulations, complies with all Quality and Customer requirements. Drives adherence to company Core Values, fosters a culture of Continuous Improvement, and manages production budgets effectively. The Production Manager will follow and execute programs under the supervision of Plant Manager, to achieve operational excellence, maintain safety standards, and deliver high-quality products on time and within cost parameters.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing leadership role; wood milling industry experience preferred.
  • 5 years of Packaging/Bagging experience required.
  • Proven track record in Continuous Improvement methodologies, such as Six Sigma.
  • CSSGB Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and environmental standards.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and training programs to maintain a zero-incident workplace.
  • Champion a proactive safety culture by engaging employees in hazard identification and corrective actions.
  • Model and reinforce company Core Values in all interactions and decision-making processes.
  • Build a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and respect.
  • Mentor and develop supervisors and production staff to achieve personal and professional growth.
  • Plan, organize, and manage daily production activities to meet Safety, quality, cost, and delivery targets.
  • Monitor KPIs such as throughput, yield, downtime, and efficiency; implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.(TPM Program)
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and other Continuous Improvement initiatives to optimize processes.
  • Identify opportunities for waste reduction, cost savings, and productivity enhancements.
  • Implement standardized work procedures and ensure adherence across all shifts.
  • Support Plant Manager to manage the production budget, including labor, materials, and overhead costs.
  • Support Plant Manager to analyze variances and implement strategies to maintain financial targets.
