About The Position

Rock West Composites, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Production Manager . Rock West Composites, Inc. is an engineering and manufacturing company dedicated to providing innovative solutions for commercial and government customers. This position is located at our Tijuana, Baja California facility and reports to our Director of Operations. Position Summary: The Production Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day production activities across multiple shifts in assigned production areas. Production Manager will oversee the production process and coordinates all activities to ensure enough resources on hand to support the production schedule. Resource capacity planning, technician schedules, direct/indirect materials availability.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible Manufacturing leadership in a production environment in the composites industry.
  • Previous supervisory experience and job shop experience required.
  • Must possess strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills and be able to work effectively across all areas of the business.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and prioritizing skills.
  • Current computer literacy is a must, including full proficiency in the use of the entire Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), and a working knowledge of basic production planning.
  • Eligible candidate must be: U.S. citizen, U.S. national, a person lawfully admitted for permanent residence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example that Safety is a way of life
  • Reaffirm existing production goals, or establish new goals, and lead the group effort to achieve those goals
  • Ensure operations metrics are well-known, and track daily progress toward achieving enterprise objectives
  • Lead cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives for safety, on-time delivery, production efficiency, and scrap reduction
  • Develop the capabilities of those in the department through teaching, coaching, establishing high standards, and ensuring accountability
  • Monitor workflow to ensure that schedules are met and bottlenecks are identified and effectively managed.
  • Analyze and implement process flow improvements.
  • Determine and assure optimum personnel staffing.
  • Optimize, implement, and assure production efficiency and product quality.
  • Implement strategies to increase efficiency, improve quality, improve on-time delivery, and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Work with quality assurance to identify and correct product or system deficiencies.
  • Exhibit and promote an attitude on the plant floor that leads to an engaged and energized workforce
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and secure work environment.
  • Actively supports and interacts in plant monthly and/or refresher safety training using available resources and prescribed goals to determine and subsequently help eliminate actual and potential safety issues, unsafe acts and/or conditions to preclude accidents, to keep Rock West employees safe, and to achieve the Department/Plant and/or Enterprise safety goals and objectives.
  • Strong focus on behavior-based safety through sound leadership, adherence to observation programs and proactive balanced real-time feedback and actions.
  • Increase throughput, reduce inventories, and reduce operating expenses continuously.
  • Implement and maintain a minimum of 5S Level with focus on continually improving toward Operational Excellence
  • Always operate in compliance with the Rock West Composites Quality System and Quality Policy.
  • Adheres to all AS9100 certification and compliance requirements.
  • Comply with Rock West Composites policies, procedures, and Code of Business Conduct.
  • Responsible to meet all safety and environmental compliance requirements for all local, State and Federal agencies.
  • Regular interface with Quality, Engineering services, Research and Development and Program Managers to establish clear lines of communication and provide task status.
  • Provides leadership to production Supervision through technical leads in support of the production processes
  • Provides technical guidance to the integrated production team
  • Collaboration on research and selection of equipment, vendors and consultants that might be required for task resolution
  • Maintain control of production processes
  • Provide input to design, fabrication and implementation, and review of production tooling, jigs, and fixtures
  • General Shop Supervision
  • Other duties as assigned.
