About The Position

PRODUCTION MANAGER- SHIPPING/PLANT SERVICES/BILLET YARD Manage the activities in Shipping, Plant Services, and the Billet Yard. Responsible for developing goals and objectives for the department that are aligned with those of the larger Reading manufacturing organization. Develop, define, and lead the implementation of plans, actions, and measurements to meet department goals. Develop, implement, and sustainably improve process for finished goods and in process inventory management. Evaluate, plan and determine scheduling activities to ensure effective achievement of pack and shipping monthly targets and objectives. Develop, define, track, and implement initiatives to improve throughput while improving cost and value contribution. Monitors and drives other departments for needs to meet on-time delivery expectations. Measure and evaluate execution of the plans and make appropriate adjustments to meet the aligned goals and objectives. Identify, research and drive the implementation of improvement opportunities and work with supporting resources to realize these improvements opportunities. Drive and own departmental OEE results through cross-departmental collaboration to achieve production targets, quality performance targets and equipment availability. Evaluate and recommend new equipment, new processes or maintenance technologies. Define and communicate performance expectations for staff and coach and counsel them in the performance of job responsibilities. Communicate monthly departmental results. Develop and manage departmental budgets. Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Four-year college degree in engineering, business or metallurgy preferred. High School diploma required.
  • 8 or more years of experience at a production manager level.
  • Requires strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire, motivate and influence others.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever changing work environment.
  • Ability to work closely with other departments.

Nice To Haves

  • Logistics and shipping experience preferred.
  • Experience with developing and management budgets, implementing and driving goals within the department and evaluating and recommending new equipment and processes through lean manufacturing.
