About The Position

The primary duty of a production line worker is to put together finished products and the various pieces that go together to form finished products. The production line worker uses various tools, machines and/or equipment in conjunction with hands, to complete his work that may sometimes involve cutting, trimming, folding, gluing, or stitching components. Restrictions: in support of the Lighthouse mission, production line workers are limited to legally blind, blind, or significantly visually impaired persons.

Requirements

  • Ability to manually prepare kits using repetitive arm and hand movements
  • Ability to perform physical activities (i.e. at times required to carry, push, pull, or lift a maximum of 50 lbs. (weight over 50 lbs. must be shared with someone else or lifting equipment must be used), stand at a production station for extended periods up to 8 hours a day), may be required to use a pallet jack
  • Ability to communicate in English
  • Good interpersonal and communicative skills
  • Ability to arrive at work on time and be at your production station ready for work
  • Ability to use assistive technology effectively
  • Ability to learn braille
  • Ability to deal pleasantly and courteously with management and co-workers
  • High School diploma, GED, or suitable work experience or training required
  • Sit, stand, walk, hear, kneel, crouch, bend
  • Use of hands, fingers, feel, handle objects
  • Carry, push, pull, or lift a minimum of 50 lbs. (weight exceeding 50 lbs. must be shared with a co-worker or by using lifting equipment)
  • May be required to operate a pallet jack
  • Reliable transportation to and from work and within required business hours is a must
  • This position is for legally blind individuals that are able to provide documentation of this fact.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or prior training in a production/assembly work environment is a plus, but not necessarily required
