About The Position

Develop short and long term COE integrated schedules. Communicate and ensure cells operate to the COE schedule. Connection and interface between Materials, Engineering, Supply Chain and Customer facing organizations focused on product/ manufacturing readiness, execution and delivery. Jobs at this level operate with some autonomy but are covered by well-defined Commercial policies or review of end results. The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (typically annual volume, margin and compliance requirements).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 5 years manufacturing experience or High School Equivalent and 10 years' experience in an manufacturing production role.

  • Experience in operations leadership of a machine shop
  • Experience with manufacturing engineering in rotor and field machining
  • Prior experience in a role scheduling or allocating shop resources
  • Understanding of basic project management and use of PM tools such as MS project
  • Strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally and to communicate with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to translate customer requirements and individual project schedules into concrete plans for cells
  • Ability to perform in depth analysis looking out several years to develop future forecasts for COE
  • Experience working with union trades and employees
  • Capex and Opex planning experience a plus
  • Knowledge of SAP

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Rotors and Fields COE new unit and CMU production Schedule Master.
  • Master shall incorporate a level loading approach based on a probabilistic model which prevents flow line stoppages and properly accounts for training schedules, machine and workstation capacity limitations, machine downtime, TPM schedules, Vacation, illness, FMLA trends, machine downtime, supplier quality and delivery issues. The individual cells develop their detailed schedules to this COE master.
  • Interface with Services Leaders, Materials Leaders, GPF owners, Cell leaders, COE leader and other functionalities to keep COE production Schedule Master up to date.
  • Act as lead for COE to ensure material need dates for cells are documented and known for all jobs and communicated to materials function.
  • Work with MRP planners, materials leads and sourcing regularly to ensure all needed parts including forgings, field wind kits, coils, and buckets are ordered at the correct time.
  • This role integrates and regularly communicates COE capacity and resource planning to the materials function and directs them accordingly on materials requirements to avoid work stoppages.
  • Work with sourcing to understand the supply chain bottlenecks and sourcing lead times.
  • Implement scheduling and material ordering countermeasures to avoid COE work stoppages.
  • Develop production strategies and hold meeting rhythm to ensure cells are optimizing workflow.
  • Identify weak points in our flow lines.
  • Identify, develop and manage a small deck of important key projects around key production limiters within the shops with COE and Cell Leader support.
  • This will be part of our roadmap.
  • Work on a daily basis to help schedule and guide production in the Machine cell, which is the key COE bottleneck/limiter needing constant attention to ensure optimal overall COE scheduling of new units and services rotors and fields.
  • Work closely to ensure fields and rotors services machining demands are satisfied in the production schedule.
  • Communicate and guide shop activities accordingly.
  • Lead coordination across cross-functional project teams to ensure the timely and accurate release of the Bill of Materials (BOM) in alignment with production schedules and slot commitments.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and escalation support for critical production readiness issues impacting material release.
  • Monitor, track, record, L1 process cycle times in the cells and issue Monthly reports on same to Cell and COE leaders.
  • Work with COE/Cell leaders to drive improvements and countermeasures to correct L1 deviations and improve standard cycles.
  • Keep COE cycle standards models up to date in COE master planning consistent with realized actual average L1 cycle times.
  • Assist with coordination of shop resources including cranes, space and material flow to prevent production work stoppages while achieving successful CAPEX construction during upcoming major shop upgrades.
  • Assist COE lead with CAPEX planning to help plan future investments effectively based on weak points.
