About The Position

The Assistant Production Lead will direct and coordinate the activities of production workers, supporting the Production Supervisor in all operational areas. The successful candidate will be adept at reinforcing company policies, training personnel, and ensuring the efficient operation of production lines and processes. This role will require a working schedule of Sunday - Thursday 11pm to 7am.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment; previous experience in the food industry is an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Proven champion of change and process improvement.
  • Skilled in conflict management.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of written and oral instructions, and to read and understand production schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor employees to ensure safe work practices and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), proper work area assignments, and all company policies.
  • Support the Production Supervisor in conflict resolution and corrective actions, helping to foster a positive work environment.
  • Consistently reinforce company policies and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with trainers to complete and maintain training checklists.
  • Assist in new hire evaluations.
  • Act as a primary resource for employee training, including new equipment and/or processes.
  • Provide instruction and supervision to employees on proper equipment usage.
  • Fill in for Line Leads during vacations or absences as required.
  • Assist Line Leads and Process Operators with production start-ups, changeovers, sanitizing equipment, and preparing raw materials.
  • Serve as a resource for Line Leads, Process Operators, and other key personnel.
  • Provide functional support for SAP or WMS system issues; monitor SAP to maximize labor utilization.
  • Coordinate shift crewing requirements and facilitate daily Line Lead meetings with the Production Supervisor.
  • Review previous day’s production results and address quality and line performance issues.
  • Work with Line Leads to optimize line flow according to standards, including manpower and material adjustments.
  • Collaborate with separator leads to ensure timely equipment adjustments for waste reduction and yield enhancement.
  • Communicate daily updates to off-shift leaders and supervisors.
  • Support packaging operations with SAP issues and production information.
  • Motivate employees and foster strong teamwork to achieve operational goals.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Department to ensure equipment reliability and schedule defrosts during shifts/changeovers.
  • Oversee rework of products placed on hold to meet customer specifications.
  • Assist Process and Packaging Operators with product inspections and machine setup/adjustments.
  • Review production schedules and determine staffing levels to meet production goals.
  • Analyze and resolve operational problems or assist employees in problem-solving.
  • Assign workers during changeovers or to other lines within the unit as needed.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination between line leads.
  • Perform essential operator functions within the unit as necessary.
  • Fill in for Production Supervisor during vacations or absences, with flexibility to work various shifts as needed.
