About The Position

The Production Lead- Oil Operations oversees daily shift production activities within the oil processing area of a hide and skin manufacturing facility. This role is highly hands-on and requires strong leadership, physical stamina, and the ability to work in a demanding industrial environment. The Lead is responsible for maintaining safe operations, supporting production teams, ensuring quality standards, and driving accountability in an older, heavy-industrial facility with strong odors inherent to the process.

Requirements

  • Prior lead or supervisory experience in manufacturing, production, or industrial operations preferred
  • Experience in oil processing, rendering, hide & skin, or similar environments strongly preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding setting
  • Basic computer and reporting skills preferred
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy materials (up to 50 lbs regularly; heavier with assistance)
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods
  • Work is performed in an older industrial facility
  • Strong and persistent odors are present due to hide, skin, and oil processing
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, moisture, noise, and industrial equipment
  • Must be comfortable working in a rugged, non-climate-controlled warehouse environment
  • All required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided, including but not limited to gloves, protective clothing, eye protection, hearing protection, and safety footwear requirements
  • Strict adherence to PPE and safety protocols is mandatory

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate daily shift operations within the oil processing area
  • Supervise, train, and support production employees in a physically demanding environment
  • Ensure production goals, throughput, and schedules are met
  • Enforce all safety procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor product quality and report deviations immediately
  • Troubleshoot operational and personnel issues and escalate as needed
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees during the shift
  • Communicate effectively with management, maintenance, and support teams
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and development of team members
  • Maintain accurate production, safety, and attendance documentation
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, and a safety-first culture
  • Provide clear direction and priorities each shift
  • Lead by example with safety compliance, attendance, and professionalism
  • Address performance and behavioral issues promptly
  • Support continuous improvement in a challenging work environment
