Position Overview Join us in the summer of 2026 and help us continue the legacy of fostering creativity, nurturing talent, and celebrating the individual artistic journey at Interlochen. We are seeking capable and enthusiastic Production Lead Lighting Technicians who embody our core values and are committed to nurturing young artists. In this position, you will manage the staging and lighting process for student events, as well as the Summer Arts Festival shows in our large auditoriums, while fully immersing yourself in the unique environment that only a summer camp can offer.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Master Electrician for the high musical or Shakespeare theater
  • Provide lighting designs for opera, dance, and live performances in various venues, including a 3,929-seat amphitheater, a 952-seat theater, and a 300-seat outdoor venue.
  • Lead and manage electricians at light hangs and provide organized lighting paperwork.
  • Work with LED and conventional lighting fixtures, ensuring high-quality lighting for all productions.
  • Program ETC lighting consoles(Eos) and be familiar with DMX systems.
  • Provide care and maintenance of production equipment across multiple venues.
  • Work on professional touring shows that are part of the Summer Arts Festival. Guest artists in various genres such as comedy, country, pop, and more. Past guest artists include Styx, Train, Jason Mraz, Jason Isbell, Jewel, Melissa Etheridge, Nickel Creek, and Brandi Carlile
  • Work closely with 3 Lead Audio Technicians and 1 Lead Video Technician in the day-to-day management of the production crew of 14.
