About The Position

As Production Lead for Materne, North America you will be responsible for supporting the Production Supervisor in leading the day to day work activities of the work team on a designated shift. This position is for B shift- Sunday-Tuesday & E/O Wednesday from 7pm-7am.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience as a trainer, lead, or Supervisor in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
  • Previous food manufacturing experience is highly desired.
  • Ability to communicate (verbal, read, write) effectively in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Must have the ability to successfully pass a training course for acidified food production during the training/onboarding period.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform intermediate math calculations.
  • Ability to synthesize data and information in order to make the best possible decision.
  • Must be proficient with basic computer functions and systems, including Microsoft Office Suite and inventory management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to diffuse tense situations in a professional manner and effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Must be comfortable enforcing policies and performance standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly in front of a group and give clear directions.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement tools and methodologies.
  • Must have the ability to complete and maintain at least a Level 2 Qualification in one of the primary production operator positions (Tetrapak, Volpak, or Ixapack/Palletizer).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the production team members during a 12-hour work shift by maintaining a consistent, visible presence in the production workshop.
  • Mentor and motivate team members to follow safe work practices, comply with GMPs and production standards while striving to meet performance objectives (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Morale, and Environment).
  • Assist the Supervisor in ensuring the integrity of finished product quality.
  • Make decisions independently related to operations and product conformance/non-conformance in absence of the Supervisor as necessary.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of day to day challenges and operator needs.
  • Escalate to the Supervisor and/or maintenance when appropriate.
  • Assist the Production Supervisor in ensuring effective communications by relaying information between the Supervisor, work team, support departments, and other lines.
  • Coordinate scheduled work activities, including start-up, shut-down, mid-week CIP, VIF reconciliation, and any other activities as instructed by the Supervisor.
  • Monitor KPP boards, VPA boards, and production flow, using data indicators and operator feedback to make recommendations for safety, quality and process improvements.
  • Investigate and ensure accurate reporting of non-compliant materials or supplies.
  • Ensure accuracy of production paperwork and facilitate timely submission to the Quality Department.
  • Actively observe and monitor training activities of team members.
  • Provide detailed and appropriate feedback to the Supervisor.
  • Monitor 5'S' adherence and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Facilitate implementation of new processes and strive for standardization of best practice application between shifts and other production lines.
  • Assist the Supervisor with people, process and equipment root-cause analysis.
  • Drive problem solving initiatives as needed.
  • Check the employee hotline and work with the Supervisor and other leads to ensure adequate coverage for unplanned absences and tardies.
  • Assist with employee breaks, ensuring coverage by other operators or by personally providing the necessary coverage.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and all applicable regulations.
  • Report violations or other concerns promptly to the Supervisor and/or Human Resources as appropriate.
  • Support the Supervisor with performance evaluations by making recommendations for ratings, opportunities for improvement and recognition for strong performance.
  • Arrive before the shift and stay after the shift, as necessary, to ensure proper communication and coordination between shifts.
  • Perform and complete sensory testing on the lines to ensure the quality of the product.
  • Other duties as assigned.
