About The Position

The Production Lead is a highly driven individual that will be responsible for safety; leading 5S, conducting job interviews, and will be required to successfully complete Valmont Leadership Essentials training. This individual will be required to have familiarity of all workstations and be able to lead Toolbox Talks and team meetings. The Production Lead needs to have knowledge of product quality, exercising cost control, producing parts and assemblies to schedule, motivating shop employees to attain quantity and quality standards and administering company and division policies. This position leads the production employees and maintains the log of operations.

Requirements

  • Literacy and use of measuring devices required.
  • Demonstrate competency in computer literacy.
  • Complete VLE training course and train future Leads.
  • Speak on department metrics in daily Operations meetings (SQDC).
  • Willingness to be developed and placed in stretch assignments.
  • Entry-level position; welding experience preferred.
  • Ability to read tape measure, learn on the job in a fast-paced environment, and flexibility.

Nice To Haves

  • A high school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Three years of experience in a supervisory position.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing or logistic operations environment.
  • Practical hands-on experience in Lean Manufacturing.
  • Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble the current day's production.
  • Lead 5S and Gemba board discussions.
  • Train people in processes, policies, and safety procedures.
  • Demonstrate willingness to cross-train in other areas.
  • Plan the weekly workload and identify/report engineering issues.
  • Provide supervisor coverage in the absence of the Supervisor.
  • Manage inventory.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal communication.
  • Achieve goals in a timely manner while providing excellent customer service.
  • Train new employees in the Assembly department.
  • Assist other crews with departmental work and cleaning.
