About The Position

U.S. Pipe and Foundry is seeking a Production- Labor Pool Associate. The labor pool will train in departments best suited for the applicant based on previous skill and/or interview. The labor pool shift will be based on company need at the time of hire and includes roles such as machine operator, equipment operator, line worker, shipping worker, and more. Labor pool employees are eligible to enter the maintenance apprenticeship program and will fill in on production jobs when required within the department, replacing absentees, vacations, etc. They will also serve as relief personnel to regular employees for work and lunch breaks, and are responsible for maintaining good housekeeping in any assigned work area. A safety-first mindset and adherence to safe work practices are essential.

Requirements

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to climb steps and ladders.
  • Must be able to bend and stoop repeatedly.
  • Must be able to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull objects and materials weighing 50 pounds and occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull objects and materials weighing more than 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to manually roll pipe on rails.
  • Must be able to work in both hot and cold environments.
  • Must be able to work under various working conditions.
  • Must be safety conscious at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • Should be able to learn and perform simple jobs in a reasonable time.

Responsibilities

  • Train in departments best suited for the applicant based on previous skill and/or interview.
  • Fill in on production jobs when required within the department, replacing absentees, vacations, etc.
  • Serve as a relief man to relieve regular employees for work and lunch breaks.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in any assigned work area.
  • Practice safe work procedures and comply with applicable safety rules and regulations in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Complete clean-up tasks involving picking up, sweeping, and shoveling.
  • Help remove scrap, slag, sand, and all other debris in the area.
  • Position equipment back in its proper place.
  • Recognize defective equipment and report defects to supervision.
