About The Position

American Spoon has immediate openings in our Production Kitchen for the position of Cook Assistant. Founded in 1982, American Spoon Foods is an award-winning artisan fruit-preserving company located in Petoskey, Michigan. We craft fruit preserves and condiments in small batches primarily using locally sourced ingredients. At American Spoon, one of our most important assets is great people. Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs several times a day and stand for long periods.
• Capability to work in a fast-paced environment for periods up to four hours without stopping.
• Proficiency in basic math.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain focus.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• Positive attitude and willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of food preparation and/or food safety is preferred but not required; we will train the right person.
• One year of consecutive work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead cooks in producing our award-winning jams, jellies, condiments, and preserves.
• Perform various tasks throughout the production kitchen, including seasonal fruit processing, dishwashing, and prep work.
