The Production Helper is responsible for performing various job tasks included in the production of bread and rolls. This includes attending to roll dividing equipment, monitoring conveyors, inspecting products, and maintaining a clean work area. The role also involves assisting in the training of new employees and promoting safety in the workplace.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One year of general warehouse/production work experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating instructions in English.
  • Ability to write routine quality assurance reports and correspondence in English.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close distance, color, and peripheral vision.

Responsibilities

  • Attend to roll dividing equipment to straighten out dough balls in pans or trays.
  • Attend to bread rounding equipment to place dough balls into pie tins.
  • Supply other employees with empty pie tins.
  • Monitor conveyors for jams and clear jams safely.
  • Inspect products for damage or conformity to specifications.
  • Notify Supervisor of any non-conformance of product.
  • Push material or products between machines or departments on a dolly.
  • Pick up pans from dolly and place them onto the conveyor.
  • Move pans, racks, and dollies to or from the area.
  • Start or stop conveyors by pushing buttons on a control panel.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Attend box former by starting and stopping the machine when necessary.
  • Help mixer by opening boxes or bags of ingredients and loading them into mixers.
  • Perform other tasks that may arise in the production area after appropriate training.
  • Help in the training of new employees or employees who change job classifications.
  • Report all equipment problems to the foreman or supervisor immediately.
  • Promote safety by understanding and following safety procedures.
