About The Position

Smith & Loveless is united under one cause: “Protecting Water. Protecting People.” We are seeking a 2nd Shift Foreman to partner with our experienced production team in this environmentally focused industry. A 2nd Shift Foreman at Smith and Loveless is responsible for supervising and coordinating second-shift production to ensure high-quality, efficient manufacturing. Shift hours are 4:00 pm to 12:30 am.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 5 years in a supervisory capacity in a production operation.
  • Must be able to effectively supervise hourly union employees.
  • Ability to establish priorities, delegate duties, and read and understand blueprints.
  • Must have a mechanical aptitude, knowledge of Windows based PC, basic math skills including geometry and conflict resolution skills.
  • Foreman are expected to show up an hour before the shift to prepare.
  • Overtime may be required as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise the operations of 2nd Shift employees in paint, blast, weld, and fabrication.
  • Delegate duties and provide follow-up and assistance for effective control.
  • Ensure efficient and timely processes of the Company product to meet the production schedules.
  • Ensure adherence to specifications/standards by properly directing and supervising work in progress.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and other internal departments to ensure proper interpretation of plans and specifications in order to provide proper fabrication functions and to troubleshoot problems as they occur.
  • Responsible for the proper administration of the Union Contract to ensure equitable and harmonious union management relations and handle step 1 grievances as needed.
  • Ensure safe work area and adherence to safe work practices by initiating corrective preventative measures.
  • Inspect all finished work to ensure they meet specifications before closing the job out.
  • Develop efficient production methods and suggest new or improved equipment in an effort to lower cost and enhance product operating efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned by Plant Superintendent.
  • Keep work area neat and clean.
