The Production Engineering Intern will rotate through multiple disciplines of engineering within the manufacturing organization. They will gain practical experience and get a sense of the diverse engineering opportunities at ZT by applying their classroom learning to real-world scenarios. In each area, they will support the existing engineering team by planning, managing, and delivering at least one project of their own. At the end of the Internship, they will have the opportunity to present their project results to senior leadership. Available Areas and Associated Responsibilities: Process Engineering (Manufacturing & Warehouse): Work with engineers to design and implement processes, tooling, and layouts. Document SOPs and Value Stream Maps to drive efficiency and consistency. Collect and analyze key process indicators such as cycle time, yield, and space utilization to assist with continuous improvement initiatives. Identify root cause and possible solutions for process interruptions. New Product Introduction Engineering: Collaborate with NPI & MFG Engineers to conduct product assessments and develop specifications & documentation. Collect and analyze key NPI metrics such as cycle time and yield to drive process improvements. Assist NPI Engineers with DFM and PFMEA analysis. Analytics & Business Intelligence: Collaborate with industrial engineers on developing the measurement systems and data sets that drive manufacturing KPIs such as cycle time, delivery, and cost. Support the industrial engineering team in collecting and compiling data, conducting experiments, and performing exploratory analyses to gain meaningful insights into manufacturing operations. Quality Engineering: Collaborate with quality engineers on developing and managing quality KPIs. Support the quality engineering team and production team in collecting and compiling data, performing issue root cause analysis, and defining corrective action plans for quality issues. Manufacturing Test Engineering: Collaborate with test engineers on supporting test validation, execution, and debug. Use manufacturing test data to identify top failures and drive upstream process improvements. Support the test engineering team in developing automated test solutions that minimize operator interaction and decision-making.
