About The Position

Fervo Energy is hiring a Production Engineering Manager to lead production engineering activities across one or more of Fervo’s operating geothermal assets. This role is the technical authority for the wells and well system, accountable for performance, integrity, and long-term reliability from handover through steady-state operations. Partnering closely with plant management, you will optimize plant performance by maximizing well delivery, availability, and operability. You will establish surveillance, diagnostics, and data acquisition/analysis programs with the Resource team (reservoir engineering and geology) to improve forecasting and operating strategy. You will integrate across Drilling and Completions to feed operating learnings into future well designs, operating envelopes, and collaborate on intervention/workover plans.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering (Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical, or a related discipline).
  • 10+ years in production engineering/operations/subsurface roles with ownership of well and system performance; waterflood and injection well operating experience required.
  • Strong understanding of well performance, production/injection systems, and surface facilities.
  • Experience building/leading surveillance, forecasting, optimization, and intervention planning workflows.
  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with production engineering and modeling tools (e.g., nodal/system modeling, data visualization).
  • Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • People leadership experience.
  • Workover/intervention planning and execution experience.
  • Experience in a high-growth, scaling operational environment.
  • Track record building scalable standards, processes, and digital workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day production and injection performance for assigned geothermal assets, including well surveillance, system monitoring, and regulatory testing.
  • Establish and maintain production engineering standards, workflows, and operating rhythms to support safe, reliable, and repeatable operations.
  • Lead the use of real-time data, analytics, and digital tools to diagnose performance issues, track system health, and support operational decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain well and system performance models to support forecasting, optimization, and scenario analysis.
  • Own short-term production forecasts and performance variance analysis, including documentation of downtime and underperformance using structured root cause analysis.
  • Identify, prioritize, and execute short- and medium-term production enhancement and reliability improvement opportunities across wells and surface systems.
  • Lead the planning, execution support, and post-job evaluation of geothermal well interventions, workovers, and remedial operations.
  • Identify, assess, and manage well and system risks, including integrity, scaling, corrosion, and other risks.
  • Define surveillance programs, and mitigation strategies to ensure long-term well and asset integrity.
  • Drive learnings from operating experience back into well design, completion strategy, and field development planning.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Production Engineers with clear priorities and technical standards.
  • Build a culture of safety, ownership, technical rigor, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the primary production engineering interface with Field Ops, Reservoir, D&C, Facilities, Projects, and Development teams.
  • Translate complex subsurface/production topics into actionable guidance and provide operability constraints/forecast inputs for planning.
