About The Position

The Airgas Summer Internship Program is a 10 week program for current college students designed to provide training, exposure and experience in a key functional area that impacts our business. Participants will work directly with managers and mentors who can contribute to their career development in addition to helping them build technical and leadership skills. The Primary Production Engineering Intern will be responsible for providing technical and engineering support to primary production plants, specifically in the East Zone. In this role, they will work alongside Zone Production Engineers & Plant Engineers in the development and execution of capital projects, efficiency improvements, and safety & regulatory compliance upgrades.

Requirements

  • Currently working towards a graduate or undergraduate degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or other applicable Engineering Field
  • 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Approximately 25% travel to various production plants along the East Coast

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship experience in Industrial Gas or production/manufacturing equivalent
  • Experience in industrial production environments, specifically Air Separation Units (ASUs), High Purity Nitrogen (HPNs), or Liquid CO2 facilities
  • Proficiency in Google Suite or equivalent.
  • Ability to navigate industrial management software.
  • Dependable, quick learner who is independent and works well with others
  • Solution-oriented, with excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform under stress and time constraints.
  • Comfortable in both Corporate and Field environments.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of CAPEX and OPEX projects focused on improving equipment reliability and process efficiency
  • Support completion of Air Liquide FIT convergence action plans
  • Participation in the creation, updates and reviews of the Management of Change (MOC) process
  • Updating and redlining of plant documentation such as P&IDs, SOPs, & Local Work Instructions
  • Identify and apply internal component specifications to equipment replacements and upgrades
  • Support day to day process troubleshooting and investigation of reliability incidents through the RCA process
