The Production Engineering Intern (Assembly) will support assembly operations through process analysis, defect reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role includes conducting root cause analysis, assisting with preventative maintenance, and ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards. The intern will collaborate with international teams, support documentation efforts, and contribute to daily production performance monitoring. Through hands-on learning, the intern will gain exposure to assembly processes, quality assurance, and engineering problem-solving in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

• Completion of at least two years of full-time enrollment (minimum 12 credit hours per semester) in a Bachelor's degree program in Engineering or equivalent.
• Must be currently enrolled as a fulltime student at an accredited four-year college or university.
• GPA of 3.2 or higher.
• Basic knowledge of project management processes and tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to write and communicate technical information clearly and concisely.
• Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
• Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.

Responsibilities

• Analyze production defects, perform root cause analysis, and recommend process improvements.
• Monitor assembly processes, perform visual inspections, and support KPI reporting.
• Assist the quality team with defect analysis and documentation requirements.
• Support Maintenance Technicians with preventative maintenance procedures.
• Read and diagnose error codes while applying corrective actions where possible.
• Operate material barcode scanners and maintain knowledge of chemical/oil labeling and SDS requirements.
• Work with international teams and translators to support global collaboration.
• Communicate effectively with coworkers through clear verbal and written updates.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure compliance with FIFO standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment using 5S principles.
