About The Position

Reporting to the Plant Manager or Engineering Team Leader, this person is responsible for day-to-day application of production engineering concepts through continual interaction with a wide range of production staff. This includes working on process improvements such as possible tooling modifications, examining methods improvements, and analysis of optimum operating conditions. This position has a hands-on process improvement emphasis and will also involve opportunities for supervisory and leadership experiences.

  • In addition to formal educational background, this position will also require 1-2 years of practical experience within production to become well versed in specific thermoforming techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the PI manufacturing process while contributing to our zero-injury goal safety culture.
  • This position will be a key component of the site's 5S Program.
  • Analyzes and recommends process improvements and manufacturing methods related to safety through structured methods such as job hazard analyses.
  • Prepares and evaluates the feasibility of machine design changes & coordinates such modification projects while working closely with production.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems and can troubleshoot these systems.
  • Effectively communicates all aspects of our needs to equipment vendors/suppliers.
  • Provides proposals for new equipment and improvements in safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Leads or is part of interdepartmental teams to improve safe working practices.
  • Strives to optimize operating conditions and resolve problem areas for routine tasks.
  • Delivers training.
  • Selects, mentors & prepares intern projects.
  • Displays standard operating procedure knowledge.
  • Performs other special projects as assigned.
  • Follows good manufacturing practices to ensure product safety.
